Amistad Community Health Center is a non-profit, 501(c) 3 tax exempt, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). The company provides primary and pediatric healthcare services to low-income, uninsured, and underinsured community members in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Company Strengths/Competitive Edge
Amistad’s unique strength is that it is a Federally Qualified Health Center. As a FQHC, Amistad Community Health Center is able to serve a designated Medically Underserved Area/Population (MUA or MUP), to provide health services to persons in all stages of the life cycle and to all persons regardless of ability to pay, and to charge for services on a sliding-fee scale based on patients’ family income and size. The company has a consumer-majority Board governance structure. The company’s system has complied with stringent program expectations/requirements and all applicable federal and state regulations. A FGHC Status drives a number of privileges to the Amistad Community Health Center. These allowed for access to federal grants to support costs of providing uncompensated care, prospective Payment System reimbursement for services to Medicaid and Medicare patients, access to medical malpractice coverage under Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA), access to Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program and access to National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Placements.
Goals
Amistad Community Health Center’s goals are to improve patient satisfaction by improving clinical quality and efficiency, to expand services to address priority needs, to generate revenue by exploring opportunities, and to develop a culture optimizing members’ time and talents. The company aims to manage and increase its financial assets, to recruit and retain the best staff and volunteers, and to enhance the company’s image as a provider of affordable, quality health care.
