Since its inception in the Spring of 2014, the South Coast Angel Network (SCAN) has not missed a beat when it comes exploring opportunities within the Coastal Bend Region. SCAN has already met on several occasions to discuss investment opportunities.
According to soutcoastangelnetwork.com, “The purpose of membership in SCAN is to provide members of SCAN exposure to investment opportunities in early stage companies located, or doing business, in the region, including specific investment opportunities presented by other members, and to provide forums for education and active interchange of information and ideas, regarding the information, development and financial structuring of early stage companies.”
On Nov. 19th, 2014 SCAN took this statement to heart and met at the Coastal Bend Business Innovation Center (Innovation Center) for a meeting and educational workshop.
SCAN’s membership meeting was followed by educational sessions on “investing in tech companies and deal structures and terms.”
Jamie Rhodes, Founder of National Nano Materials and a serial entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in technology management, and Michael Girdley, CEO/ Founder of Codeup and Managing Director of Geekdom Fund, presented at the meeting.
Rhodes gave a presentation on evaluating early stage companies and term sheets, and Girdley gave an overview of technology investing and market status.
