As people grow more environmentally aware, many companies are becoming more conscious about their effect on the environment. This trend is reflected in the Coastal Bend Business Innovation Center’s (Innovation Center’s) industry portfolio, in which over 40% of the center’s clients focus on innovative, green initiatives.
According to the earthshare.org article entitled “Greening Business,” “[N]atural resources are becoming scarce and costly; [and] customers, employees and investors are increasingly environmentally-conscious. Championing sustainability allows businesses to align deeply with their missions and engage customers on a more meaningful level.”
Although there are simple, everyday steps that companies can take to go green in the office workplace, such as turning to cloud-based applications to reduce paper waste or turning computers off after each shift, client companies such as Hydro Enviro Clean (HEC) are taking it a step further.
HEC is taking environmental stewardship seriously and this attention to environmental stewardship did not go unnoticed by the South Texas Energy Economic Roundtable (STEER), which presented HEC with the 2014 Eagle Ford Excellence Award for Environmental Stewardship.
According to the steer.com, “the Eagle Ford Excellence Award for Environmental Stewardship seeks to honor those who make it their obligation to preserve the environment in a responsible manner. The oil and gas industry’s commitment to reducing spills, minimizing waste, and promoting water management and conservation are paramount.”
“The larger value of going green relates to maintaining the health of the environment. Utilizing sustainable methods can prevent the waste of natural resources, helping reduce the risk of depletion in the long run,” states the article entitled “Why Businesses Should Go Green,” which is featured on smallbusiness.chron.com.
Companies such as HEC are making an effort to not only go green but to support other industries, such as the Texas hydraulic fracturing industry, in sustainable methods.
