Entrepreneur Night is a Success

November 30, 2015

Entrepreneur Night, an annual event cohosted by the Coastal Bend Business Innovation Center (Innovation Center) and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) of Del Mar College, was a success. Over 180 people attended the event—nearly a 60% increase from the previous year.

“‘We know it’s a success because year after year we get more people involved,” David Fonseca, Incubation Manager, was quoted as saying in the tamucc.edu article “Entrepreneur Night Highlights Available Resources for Small Business Community in South Texas.”

Entrepreneur Night is an annual event that was started in 2014, and has seen its attendance list increase year after year. Last year’s event attracted over 100 people who came to learn about the Center and the local resources available for entrepreneurs and small business owners.

However, this year included a new feature: a panel of several successful, local entrepreneurs. Fred Dotts with MDR Advertising, Pete Alaniz with Titan Support Systems and Sebastian Giraldo with Giraldo Elite Futbol made up the panel. The panelists gave a brief talk that highlighted their experience and insight into starting a business from the ground up in Corpus Christi.

In addition to this, Entrepreneur Night included information and resource tables that focused on business growth within the region. Attendees also got to mingle with representatives from area economic entities such as: the Small Business Administration, the Small Business Development Center at Del Mar College, micro lender LiftFund, area chambers of commerce and economic development corporations.
