David Fonseca is the Innovation Center’s Incubator Manager and beginning October 1, 2015 he will serve on the National Business Incubation Association’s (NBIA) Board of Directors as one of their youngest board members to date.
Mr. Fonseca’s role will be instrumental to guiding the Association’s future plans to support business incubation around the world. He has been a NBIA member since 2010 and has been invited to present the Innovation Center’s program models to incubation leadership across the U.S. and internationally in Mexico and Russia.
“I have been entrusted to serve in a period of transition and that means a lot! The NBIA has a new CEO, president of the board, and 5 new board directors. I look forward to capitalizing on the opportunities that we have. Together we will share and transfer knowledge effectively to reach more entrepreneurs around the globe." States Fonseca.
The NBIA keeps a diverse, fifteen-member board, representing different types of incubators and different roles in business incubation. However, the decision on who is elected is not based solely on diversity, only those who represent a financially sound and resourceful incubation center with impactful experience and active engagement in the field are chosen.
Fonseca has demonstrated his dedication to the Business Incubation by serving over 130 early stage companies in the last five and one-half years. He recently developed the program for a Department of State initiative, La Idea Business Incubation Program, to bring companies from Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Chile to the Innovation Center share best practices and learn about advanced manufacturing techniques and how to do business in the USA.
Additionally Fonseca Serves the Corpus Christi community by having co-founded and served on the board of the Young Business Professionals (YBP) of the Coastal Bend, which has 500 members in Corpus Christi.
Fonseca, “feels passionate about helping and understanding the development of innovative ideas, products, services, or processes.”
