This coming Thursday, Nov. 20th, 2014, the Young Business Professionals of the Coastal Bend (YBP) will be hosting the Corpus Christi 2020 luncheon.
During the luncheon the YBP will discuss their “Research University for Corpus Christi” initiative. The initiative will call on Coastal Bend community to support Texas A&M University’s mission to become an emerging research university.
In an article on the TAMU-CC website entitled “Island University President Outlines Path to Emerging Research Status,” Dr. Flavius Killebrew, the President and CEO of TAMU-CC, was quoted as saying, “For communities with similar resources, a university with emerging research status has had a profound impact on the fabric of the community through business, public life, infrastructure and the arts. Emerging research status is essential in order to keep the best and brightest in our community.”
Dr. Ray Perryman will be speaking at the luncheon. According to perrymangroup.com, “Perryman is Founder and President of The Perryman Group (TPG), an economic and financial analysis firm headquartered in Waco, Texas. He is widely regarded as one of the world’s most influential and innovative economists.”
Perryman will discuss the economic impact an emerging research university will have on the future of the Coastal Bend area.
The luncheon will be held on Thursday, Nov. 20th, 2014 at the Solomon P. Ortiz Center at 11:30 AM.
