Believing and Achieving

May 21, 2015

The Innovation Center owes its success to the work of its staff and student employees, and the talent among these individuals is readily apparent. The student employees at the Center have differentiated themselves from their peers through their work and personal achievements.
Derek Drozd and Trang Nguyen were recently recognized for their achievements and received a scholarship and award, respectively.

Drozd was recently awarded the Golden Key International Honour Society’s Undergraduate Achievement Scholarship. Out of the many that apply, only 10 are selected to receive this award.

According to the Golden Key website, “Emphasis [is] placed upon academic excellence and how [an] individual lives out the values of Golden Key on a daily basis.”

In 2013, Drozd was inducted the Golden Key International Honour Society—an organization that has allowed him to actively participate in community service both on and off campus while encouraging him to exemplify its commitment to academics, leadership and service.

Nguyen received recognition for her work at the university and was one of three students chosen to be an “Outstanding Islander."
According to the article on the Texas A&M University Corpus Christi website titled, “Trang Nguyen – Outstanding Islander: Finance for the Future,” she proves her dedication to academics as a research assistant at the Innovation Center, a tutor for students in finance and accounting and as President of the Student Finance Association on campus.

Thi Nguyen and Alyssa Garza, two other extraordinary Innovation Center employees, were honored at the Third Annual School of Arts, Media, and Communication (SAMC) Awards “A Night of Celebration and Performance”.

Testifying their exceptional talent and creativity; Nguyen received recognition for outstanding choreographer in dance and Garza for excellence in graphic design.

Dedication, perseverance, and commitment is exemplified in these students who work their hardest inside and outside the Innovation Center.
