During the Homecoming Honors Banquet, on Feb. 5, 2016, Juan Sebastian Garzon and Dr. Richard Smith both received awards. The banquet was held to honor the outstanding efforts of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC) alumni during the 2016 year.
Garzon, Business Coordinator at the Coastal Bend Business Innovation Center, was presented the College Achievement Award for the College of Business. He graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s in Finance and went on to earn a Master’s in Business Administration. As Business Coordinator of the Innovation Center, he oversees the budgets and finances, facility management and provides client coaching. He is certified through the International Business Innovation Association’s Incubator Managment Certificate Program, Growth Wheel Inc., and Wendy Kennedy Inc.
Dr. Smith, Assistant Professor of Geographic Information Science and Geospatial Surveying Engineering at TAMU-CC and Chief Technology Officer and Founder of CartoFusion Technologies, was presented the Outstanding Alumnus Award. This award is given to alumni who exemplify the core values of excellence, integrity, leadership, loyalty and respect through/ in their career of profession and service.
