As an entrepreneur it is important to protect ones innovative process, product or idea. These three things fall under what is known as “intellectual property.” According to the World Intellectual Property Organization website, “Intellectual property (IP) refers to creations of the mind, such as inventions; literary and artistic works; designs; and symbols, names and images used in commerce.”
As an innovator it makes sense to protect ones idea(s) and according to that same website, “the legal protection of new creations encourages the commitment of additional resources for further innovation.”
It may seem like a daunting task but the Coastal Bend Business Innovation Center (Innovation Center) is hosting an educational workshop that will provide more information on intellectual property law and protection.
The guest speaker at this educational workshop will be Susan Ochoa Spiering, who, according to her website ochoapatents.com, is a “registered Patent Attorney with over 22 years of experience [with helping] inventors and entrepreneurs obtain patent protection for new products, processes, machines or ideas.”
All small businesses and startups are welcome to attend on Sept. 25, 2014. The workshop will be held at the Innovation Center lobby from 4:30pm to 5:30pm.
