CartoFusion Technologies begins work at The Innovation Center as a Resident Client Company in the Incubation Program. The company is evolving exciting and futuristic mapping technology that helps a diverse group in their mapping needs.
SituMap, CartoFusion Technology’s software-mapping application, requires very little training and can be used by multiple users simultaneously when installed on large touch-capable screens. From planning a large outside event or strategic planning for emergencies, this technology will be useful to almost all community service entities and individuals.
The company’s innovative application of this technology for emergency mapping gained recognition during the 2015 Texas A&M Technology Commercialization Showcase. During this event, A&M start-up companies pitched their ideas to potential investors.
In a KBTX.com news article covering the event titled, “Turning Ideas Into Real Business Realties” CartoFusion’s success is highlighted, “CartoFusion is already successful in the commercial market and they’re selling software technologies to emergency management teams statewide.”
CartoFusion Technology’s founding team is composed of Dr. Richard Smith, Inventor and CTO, and Mr. Sam Allred, the Software Development Coordinator. Dr. Smith used his skills in emergency mapping after Japan’s tsunami in 2011, and also from the Columbia Shuttle Disaster with NASA at their field headquarters. In addition to the creating CartoFusion Technologies, they have partnered with Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi, Texas A&M System Technology Commercialization, and Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service.
This strong team brings together years of experience in GIS, emergency response, software engineering, new venture development, and training.
