Toby Globy Eco Action, a client company of the Coastal Bend Business Innovation Center (Innovation Center) has just signed a CITGO Grant Agreement.
“CITGO liked the concept and practicality of Toby Globy as it teaches children to become good stewards of the environment at an early age,” said Humberto Almaraz, the founder and creator of Toby Globy.
According to the CITGO website, “[The grants] program[s] typically award grants to non-profit organizations and educational institutions to implement projects that aim to improve the quality of life of people.”
“The [CITGO Grant will be] a one-year ‘pilot’ initiative,” said Almaraz, “at a local elementary school in which 700 students and their teachers will participate in concentrated water conservation, trash prevention and recycling throughout the school year.”
“The [CITGO] grants program typically funds projects that restore and conserve vital ecosystems such as wetlands and marshlands; promote energy conservation and efficiency through efforts such as weatherization in homes; and support educational advocacy efforts on environmental issues.” states the CITGO website.
“Partnering with such a large corporation certainly has its advantages,” said Almaraz, “and the possibilities of spreading the eco-message are much greater.”
